Real Estate World

Let's build our business together

My WP blog just hit its second milestone overnight - 10,000 visitors!

ReesesPiecesOfRealEstate went live the second week of July. As is typical with blogs, it didn't take long for Google to find it. When Google did their update in September, the PR went from '0' to '4'. That was the first milestone and I was estatic.

The readership has been increasing each month which is exciting. Also, the linking back and forth to my web site has improved the PR for elainereese.com from a '1' to a '3'. For important keywords, both my web site and my blog are on page 1 of Google - now ranking higher than my AR posts, which in some instances have now moved to page 2. (anyone else notice that change?)

According to the WP stats report, the keywords people have used when landing on my blog, seem to be consumers looking for local real estate info. Some of the hits are coming from the long tail. I often find those long tails amusing!

I'm writing this for those people "thinking" of getting their own blog. My numbers may not be as much as other "big" bloggers, but I think it shows how powerful having your own blog can be.

I've had my web site since 1999, and although it has delivered business for me over the years, the blog is getting substantially more visits daily than the web site. Because I change the copy on the web site at least weekly, Google is now sending spiders frequently to check for updates. I don't think that would have happened had it not been for my blog.

So my advice is if you don't have a blog - get one. If you don't have either a blog or a web site - spend your time doing a blog first!

Missy, I also did a post about "Fluffy & Fido stealing home equity". That post gets LOTS of views.

Because of The Murph, I get people searching for dachshunds, cute pet photos, etc.

Missy, you have a very good blog highly targeted to your market. I'll bet Google starts picking it up whenever they do their next reset. I watch the keywords and referral links and my blog is hitting the people I want - except for those "dog people". ;-)

that's amazing, my own outside blog was launced in Nov and still too deep in Google. But, I'll keep working on it.
